Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has revealed that two players deserve to battle 2018 Ballon d’Or ahead of him.
The 27-year-old Belgium international was among the shortlisted players by the award organizers last month after finishing eighth in 2015 and 19th in 2017.
Hazard is currently enjoying the best form of his career with a superb performance in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia plus his blistering form for the start of 2018-19 Premier League season racking up eight goals and four assists so far as Chelsea make an unbeaten start to the current campaign.
Former PFA of the year insisted despite his superlative form so far he said ays he does not deserve to take home the Ballon d’Or award, with PSG and Real Madrid stars of Kylian Mbappe or Luka Modric more suitable picks.
Hazard told RTFB. “Even though I had a very good year, I have to keep my feet on the ground.
“I do not deserve the Ballon d’Or. I think there are players who have been better than me.
“Winning the Ballon d’Or is not a goal for me. If I win it one day, great. If I do not, it won’t be a problem.
“I would have said Luka Modric but he has played a little less well since August and September. So, if we take into account the beginning of the season, I would say Kylian Mbappe.
Chelsea battle London neighbor Tottenham Hotspurs at Wembley after international in the week 13 of the Premier League.
